چکیده
Epidermolysis bullosa rarely affects lower airways. We present a case of lower airway involvement and stenosis successfully managed with flexible bronchoscopy and balloon dilation.

Esophagitis and almost complete esophageal occlusion in a girl with epidermolysis bullosa.
Epidermolysis bullosa is a genetically transmitted skin disorder that typically manifests with trauma-induced skin blistering, scarring and in some cases mucosal involvement. Esophageal webs, strictures or stenosis can be found in about a third of the patients with the recessive dystrophic type of this disease. We report a six-year-old girl with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa and pr...

Benign bronchial stenosis is managed by surgical or bronchoscopic methods. Although surgical approach is definitive, it is technically demanding and is costlier than bronchoscopic treatment. Here, we report the case of a 27-year-old female patient with symptomatic benign bronchial stenosis of the left main bronchus. The stenosis was dilated successfully through a fibreoptic bronchoscope by elec...
متن کاملTreatment of multiple-level tracheobronchial stenosis secondary to endobronchial tuberculosis using bronchoscopic balloon dilatation with topical mitomycin-C.
BACKGROUND Tracheobronchial stenosis is a known complication of endobronchial tuberculosis. Despite antituberculous and steroid therapy, the development of bronchial stenosis is usually irreversible and requires airway patency to be restored by either bronchoscopic or surgical interventions. We report the use of balloon dilatation and topical mitomycin-C to successful restore airway patency. ...

Epidermolysis bullosa are a group of hereditary skin diseases manifested as blisters on the sites of trauma to the skin. According to the level of blister development, epidermolysis bullosa are divided into the following groups: epidermolysis bullosa simplex, junctional epidermolysis bullosa and dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. The latter two groups are associated with poorer prognosis and hig...
متن کاملBronchoscopic balloon dilatation in the combined management of postintubation stenosis of the trachea in adults.
Bronchoscopic balloon dilatation (BBD) using angioplasty balloon catheters has been employed successfully in the treatment of tracheobronchial stenoses in children and has worked with variable success in adults with bronchial stenosis. In adults with tracheal stenosis, BBD only has been reported anecdotally. In this study, experience with BBD using a valvuloplasty balloon catheter in the combin...
